Japanese aftermarket fairings?????

Post by LUCAS »

I spotted the following listing on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CBR400RR-NC29-FAI ... 248wt_1141

When i contacted the seller as to whether they were original or a chinese copy, he got back saying they were copies but Japanese ones and not Chinese. I checked his eBay feeback as a buyer and he bought them from someone privately as opposed to one of the Chinese companies on there in July 2009. However browsing eBay there are two Repsol chinese fairings and the one matches perfectly:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Fairing-Honda-CBR ... 2837wt_963

Im thinking they're Chinese :( Im not aware of Japanese copies.

He said he had them resprayed along with the tank (tank does look nice) early in 2010 going by the advert. What do you guys think?

Still think they are the same type of copies. Doesn't look like OEM fitment where the nose meets the mids. Ask for a picture of the rear lights they are the weak point. I would hope to get them for 350 tbh as their second hand.

I wouldn't be paying that much tbh. You can pick up a set brand new, minus tank, for less than £300.

I agree on the rear lights being the weak point. Without knowing properly, i bought a set of chinese panels and the rear lights were a joke! I snapped off 2 or 3 lugs getting a nice snug fit.... held briefly and then snap! Moto-777 have got some good feedback on their CBR400 NC29 fairing.

Yeah they are too much at £430 including postage. Considering my wheels, top yoke and screen brace are a nice metallic blue i would have the cost of getting them re-powdercoated again also.

Might put in a best offer of £300

Where would you be buying those then? I would be more interested in buying new panels rather than 2nd hand!

Yea most Jimmy Chong panels are about £330 for a standard style paint scheme and less for something they can just throw paint at.

Your bike looks really nice! I think they have come on a bit since 2 years ago when i got mine.

How did you find the fitting of them? I searched through previous topics which mostly seemed about 2 years old and there was a fair bit of of plastex used etc to get them fitted properly.

Moto-777 has got a few feedbacks on their NC29 fairings say perfect fit and brilliant quality :o I almost bought off them 2 years ago but they were slightly more expensive. I regretted going for the cheaper set!! They cracked very quickly but some of that was down to stressed mounting points and a grid entrance to a field with the bellypan

Since getting my RVF i haven't shown my CBR much love. I want to bring it out of its sorry state :(
