Brake Discs - New Addition to Rick Oliver Catalogue

Post by RickOliver » Tue Dec 28, 2010 12:44 pm

I`ve been looking around for a while to find a decent quality `budget` range of brake discs to add to my catalogue.

After lengthy discussions with various manufacturers and final receipt of samples a few days ago I`m going to be stocking & supplying these `Arashi` brand discs in addition to OE Honda and EBC models from now on.

They are made in China (don`t knock it, probably so are 60% of all the consumer goods that you own!) but by a company who seem to interested in producing parts up to a decent quality standard rather than down to the minimum price.

The centres are machined rather than pressed, the anodising is a nice subtle pale gold, not cheap & `brassy`, the build quality is very nice and they are a good match for the OE Honda RVF/VFR disc.

Price will be £150 a pair, which is half the going rate for a pair of OE discs and £100 cheaper than a pair of EBCs.

I will also have a black-centred `wavy` version available shortly as well as rears to match both.

Will you be able to get these in an NC24 fitment?

i have run some a wavey version of these Arashi discs on my fireblade now for over 2 years through all weathers and i cant fault them.

the picture is from when they were new, there is the smallest amount of tarnishing in a couple of areas but as mentioned i use the blade all year round in all conditions. now rick is offering them i will buy a set for the vfr when i need them.

Thanks, guys -

I really think that you`ll be impressed with the quality of these for the price, they are definitely a large cut above some of the nasty tat that I encountered on my search!

As far as I can see there isn`t a fitment available for the NC24 but I will double check that with the producer.

The `wavys` that I`ll be stocking will be the same pattern as those ones on the `blade

Update -

I now have the first batch of these discs in stock, round and wavy - I went for gold centred wavies in the end `cos I think that they look better.

Poor picture (should have done it earlier when I had daylight instead of flash) but you get the idea...

Any word on a 24 fitment?
Conventional wisdom says to know your limits. To know your limits you need to find them first. Finding your limits generally involves getting in over your head and hoping you live long enough to benefit from the experience. That's the fun part.
