time for an engine overall?

Post by gonzothegreat »

This afternoon, I took the carburettors out to fit the Carbtune's adapters to the intake. I had a good look down the holes, I saw a rather worrying large amount of oil on the intake wall of cylinder number 1.
Also noticed how much crap there was by the valves, not carbon crap but real dirt

I was just going to balance the carbs for the time being as I have planned to strip down the entire bike later on this year (2011....)
Now after what I saw, I just wonder if I shouldn't go ahead with it now

I might take a picture tomorrow, as I forgot to install the dampers for the Carbtune

What would you do?

edit:

Get carbs off and have a good look is the first thing to do, might be something and nothing.
How hard can it be?

Also need to remove the spark plug on cylinder #1, this should tell me more.
I'm just thinking..... shall I or shall I not strip down the bike
