Re: Service to my nc30
if you can ride a bike you can do an oil filter!
and plugs! piffft a piece of piss pal,
buy a haynes, get your self a socket set and get stuck in youll be suprised how easy it is, and youll be chuff you did it yourself.
for the cost of a service over DIY you look to pay a fair bit tbh, not sure price wise as i have never and would never pay to service a bike, unless it was belts on a ducati. then it would only go into service.

I was servicing my NC at the age of 18. It really is easy, buy yourself a Haynes manual, take your time and get stuck in.

Re: Service to my nc30
Service prices are very high at the moment as shops are struggling to sell bikes so are off setting this with a increase in work shop labour charge's. I would not be surprised if you was hit with a bill of over 200+ quid tbh..
A lot of places these days don't like doing anything on the older machines and you can be shore that many places won't bother doing at least one of the jobs you want done..
I would say get down to Halfords and get the Professional 150 piece socket set that they do for about 99 pounds this will give you all the tools you need for almost all jobs that will crop up on any bike..
You will also need the NC30 spark plug tool, you may have one if you havent then get one from David Silver www.davidsilverspares.co.uk No 89216MR8000 89216-MR8-000
Best price for spark plugs from http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWNX:IT NGK ER9EH
Get your oil from Hein gericke as there oil is made by Motul and is really good plus they give you a free oil filter 10W40 is the weight you need
Hardest bit you will come across is changing the front plugs, all you need to do is once the fairings are off (I remove all fairings for a service to check and clean little things) look at the top radiator, on both sides you will see a 8mm socket head boly simple undo these and you can move the radiator away from the front of the engine you know have full access to the front plug
... Should say you will have to remove the coolant hose fron the rad on the rhs of the bike to get the rad out far enough for the spark plug tool to fit..
Rear plugs:: simply remove the rear tank bolt and put a piece of wood under the rear of the tank you will then have enough space to get the rear plugs out...
Total time for a "first time" service will be a couple of hours and cost to you doing it inc buying a decent tool kit will be around 170 quid
That should help ya get started

Re: Service to my nc30
I started playing with bikes when I was 14. A mate of mine gave me a rough FZR400RR. Before that I never had an interest in bike mechanics but that 400 got me hooked. So easy to work on these 400s
