RVF under seat exhaust

Post by Quo Vadas »

Just wondering if anyone has seen/has an under the seat exhaust/muffler system.
One of the exhausts on a RVF that I have is a bit knackered and I was thinking of doing something a bit different and running the pipes under seat and having a twin muffler setup under the seat.

I am aware that I'll probably get flamed for asking this but I'm thinking about doing it as a project just because I can.

To flame or not to flame............................ ;)

I imagine from what the picture is telling me and your words that the exhaust must look a bit wrong wrapping up from underneath the bike. I was thinking of linking the exhaust from where it joins just near the right top side of the shock and then bringing it straight up underneath the tail.

Yes the pipe travled up the left side of the bike and just didnt look right. There was a thread not so long ago with some pics of a few other underseat designs alot better than the one i had on mine.

I'm looking at something similar on the NC24 but more RD500 style

I'm looking at two under-seat but through the vent grilles in the NC24 rear tail unit and one high exit either side. Effectively four seperate exhausts, one for each cylinder.

I have a picture of an NC30 german spec'd that has custom exhaust system on it fitted....2 underseat and 2 on one side as in twinstacked. Basicly one exhaust pipe for each cylinder. No info about the power gains or losses...It is a la NSR500 style. Will try to post it later when I am able to.

I love it when people ask this question!!! :P

I had a system made up for my NC30 about 6 years ago.

I was making a Ducati rep - the rear two cylinders came from the manifold into one can and the front two came together then ran up where the original system runs down (behind the right footpeg) Hope that makes sense? The Bike ran really well with this system and was the best sounding system I've heard!

I have a load of pics need t scan into my laptop with some more detailed pics (I'll get round to it soon!)

That is by far the best underseat system out there, where is that bike now?

Thanks  The bike was bought by a Dutch guy after seeing it in Streetfighters magazine.

He took it back with him in his people carrier under a cover to avoid paying import taxes!!!

I forgot to say I had to modify the subframe to allow fitment of the cans, and relocate the much smaller battery to under the pillion seat.

^^ That pipe system looks great on the bike and that's the design that I had in mind to do.
I'm going to see a local guy where I live that makes up systems for NC35's etc and see what he can possibly do. Work out if I have to do any mods to the bike in order for the pipes to fit nice n' snug.

Merry Xmas also.................... :peace:
