475 quid thats cheap. Are you going to strip it down and clean it up over the winter or just ride it how it is?
Can the exhaust not be welded up where it's blowing?

he said yeah it can be welded so i may just do that..

i may take the fairings off and see what the engine is like etc etc, ive only ever worked on 2 strokes so im a bit worried about messing on 4 strokes because of the engine size itself and all the carbs etc etc

abd i thought it was a bit cheap but he says it starts, runs, clutch is fine, replaced rear brake dsic etc so it sounds ok, but for £475, it aint bad

is it the nc23 or nc29?
i wouldnt worry too much about working on them, there pretty easy bikes to work on and the carbs are piece of p**s to strip down and clean up and balance, when you pick it up and start riding it you will never look back 400's are wicked

im not sure where its blowing from, i think its either the headers or the link pipe but i could be wrong, im just worried that he's said its all working but its actually a knacker but at the end of the day, if its not how he described it, i can get my deposit money back cant i??

and how do i balance the carbs? and what do you mean by balancing? like setup ? making sure it aint rich or lean?

do you know where it's blowing? If I had to guess I'd say the lower front collector box has gone, got a stock system here with 2 quite small holes in the afforementioned place if your's is too thin to patch up you can have for a tenner and post if you need it
