NC23 - NC29 full exhaust system compatability

Post by Tubbygit » Thu Dec 16, 2010 9:13 am

First of all if this topic has been covered before please post a link rather than just telling me to use search.
I tried using search and it just kept on error messaging because there were too many common words in the search

Anyway, now that the disclaimer is out of the way, does anyone know if the aftermarket full exhaust system for a NC23 Triarm that I've linked below will fit a NC29 Gullarm?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HONDA-CBR400-NC23 ... 3f05cf95e8

I know that if it was a solid / one piece system it wouldn't fit, but as it's one of the held together with springs ones should I have hope???

Sorting out the bracket to fit it at the back / can end will be easy enough, what concerns me is if the header pipes will mate with the engine block properly. And are the studs on the NC29 engine case in the right place for the holes in the header pipe clamp plates?

I have asked the seller, but unfortunately he doesn't know.

Other board members have said on numerous occaisons that they are interchangeable, the only difference being the rear mount. So you should be fine.

Edit: The system in your link doesn't appear to have the standard NC23 rear mount anyway. I'm not sure where the bracket on that system is supposed to attach - looks too far forward to meet the can hanger, and that would look wrong anyway.

That should be ok then, it's for my streetfightered NC29 commuter, so not too worried about it looking slightly odd (or having to fabricate a bracket).

Thanks mate

Especially as there was a topic started by me which included the combatability of the different exhausts only the other day!
