Re: How to get to the battery off
You'll need to remove the tail section. (6 screws/ 3 either side)
Remove pillon seat
Slowly lift it up from the rear, disconnect the rear lights and slowly lift off.
This should then give you the access you require.
If you have an Optimate or similar charger it'll be a good idea to connect up a lead at this point so you don't have to take the bike apart each time you need to get to the battery.

Ahh... fear not.
If you get yourself an Optimate charger you get a cable that you connect up to the battery thats a long wire with a plug on the end that you can run to somewhere more accessible.
Then all you need to do is connect your charger to this plug to charge the battery.
I have mine running to the underseat storage space. so just open the rear seat and theres a little plug there. stick the charger in and the bike charges.. they look like this

Charge the bike up for a few hours each week and the battery always stays fully charged and in best condition.. best not to let them run too low else they dont' last long.

Re: How to get to the battery off
Made one for my race bike and left the lead on the live terminal. Got the connectors from a bike jumble, I bet Maplins or simiar would have something.
How hard can it be?
