Re: Holy tanks batman!!!!
At a guess a leaking spot.
It was what did in my original RC24 tank, I replaced mine with a tank that had been taken off a very low milage bike due to accident damage then dry stored but that doesn't help you.
The only thing you can do get a new/replacement one, theoretically you could weld it up and grind it back but it's a pita to weld used tanks.
Petseal is one of the tank lining products but I'm sure there are others. Basically you empty the tank, pour in some stuff, tip it round until it coats everything then leave to set. Trouble with the RC24 and I think maybe the NC24 too[1] is the design of the fuel tap. Instead of a bolt on tap there are three tubes welded into the tank from behind that tap, two end in the tank with little mesh filters over them, one comes out of the bottom. Use petseal or similar on a RC24 tank and you will block reserve and probably main too.
If it's somewhere where it won't be seen you could use some stop-leak or similar

[1] I can't remember what the fuel tap looks like on them but I'm sure it's the same as the RC24

Re: Holy tanks batman!!!!
I'd go with the chemical treatment as said above, but if you resort the MIG be very careful, even tanks that are bone dry and a long time empty are potential UXB's.

Re: Holy tanks batman!!!!
No druid it's not the same , it's a bolt on tap with the filter attached to it. I have it off the tank and all the other bits as it's going for a full respray, if I can fix these dam holes.
potential UXB's. Yeah I know. Can it be soldered without going BANG?

Thank fook for that, right PITA is the 750 tank.spooky wrote:No druid it's not the same ,

You can at least use one of the tank lining compounds then.
Potentially except you're going to need one hell of a hefty soldering iron to do it with. You can't use a torch for obvious reasons!it's a bolt on tap with the filter attached to it. I have it off the tank and all the other bits as it's going for a full respray, if I can fix these dam holes.
