Please clarify all engine differences between NC23 and NC29

Post by lloydspencer »

Hiya, I have just brought what I believe is a NC29 engine.

From looking on here I know what part numbers show what engine is which but can someone please list the differences in the two engines please?

Thanks

I know they have different powers outputs and if it does turn out to be from a NC23 engine it wont fit in my NC29 frame without some modification.

Are the crank cases different, cylinders heads etc. Are there any parts the same?

What is the standard power and torque output of both?

Are there differences in the NC29 engines at all? I know the later nc29 carbs are different to earlier ones.

Also what engine do people prefer?

Thought the main difference was the cylinder barrel being part of the lower case on the 29.

I think the water union is on the rear of the block on one and on the front on the other, possibly some gearbox differences but don't have a manual here to check that.

Are you trying to identify an engine?

Going by engine numbers, NC23 is NC23E-10...
NC29 is NC23E-13... or NC23E-14... or NC23E-15...

Is that any help? Not sure exactly what you're asking as there are many differences between the two engines - clutch, gearbox, cylinder head...

Can someone send or link to a picture of a NC23 engine and a NC29 engine please.

I am off to pick the engine I won up tomorrow and he said it is from a NC29 but I want to check as there is no way I am handing my money over if it isn't the correct engine.

He hasn't replied with engine number yet so cant check that.

It is quite far to drive for the wrong item.

Thanks

Thanks for that.

There is one NC29 engine on ebay atm. Very bad picture but can compar what bits I can see.

From what I can tell there isn't a water outlet on the back on the cylinders on the NC29

And the Clutch cover isn't gold and is slightly different.

NC29 engine picture please :)
