She wont idle / run .....bike has been standing for 6 years....fuel (new)is from a dummy tank...carbs clean ...battery new , voltage good so is spark.....all bowls have fuel and they not flooding.
When i pour some gas down the carb bodies she will fire up , peak and then die....cannot get her to idel or keep her going on the throttle

Re: Starting Problem
Problem solved..
The petcock with clogged. Took it apart and cleaned it .. reinstall and the bike fired right up. Should have taken a look at before ordering a new RR
. Oh well at least the bike is running now and I now have a extra RR for a raining day.

Re: Starting Problem
Found the problem
Carbs were not as clean as i though.....three idel jets were blocked
...
She fires up now and idle's but still not picking up RPM....will leave that hassle for tomorrow. The Back two cyl are not getting enough fuel , so still think there is some dwang in the carbs.

Re: Starting Problem
Evening gentlemen, It appears i'm having exactly the same problem with my nc24. fully charged battery, fresh fuel, turns over fine just doesnt fire.
although on one try-out it backfired and woke up most of the neighbours =)
its a new tank and i've checked that fuel runs properly with the tap open but how do I go about checking the carbs?
I'm looking at selling this if anyones looking at a potential track bike, I would just like to sell it as running first though!

Re: Starting Problem
Where did you get the new tank? Is it for the nc24?

Re: Starting Problem
sorry I say new I mean second hand, the tap on it was completely bust so I took the known working one off my old tank.
I just need someone to give me a dummies guide to cleaning carbs. I'm not an idiot I just need a few pointers and possibly a few pics to get me on the right track. Obvisouly the tank needs to come off and air filter, but is it an engine out job or pretty straight forward?
cheers =)

Re: Starting Problem
It's pretty straight forwards, basically carbs out are
1) remove tank[1]
2) remove airbox
3) Cover inlet trumpets with foil or something to stop any crap falling in.
4) remove choke cable
5) undo the upper (nearest to the carbs) clamp screws on all 4 of the inlets.
6) prise off the carbs
7) undo the A and B throttle cables and remove
8) cover the inlets with foil or something to stop any crap falling in.
Clean away!

[1] Dunno about the NC24 but on the RC24 this means seat and seat side fairing panes off.

Re: Starting Problem
Like, having fun getting them carbs off. 2x3 stout piece o wood. have fun.
last time I took the carbs apart to clean them the rubber diaphram was so old I had to put it in the freezer to shrink it back to size so I could get it back together again.
Needless to say only one was done. Just use carb cleaner, a capfull into each intake (one at a time untill smoke clears) should improve things.
