Speed restrictor
I've read a few post about jap bikes being restricted.
As I only got the bike on Monday and ever since then there has been 6" of snow on the road, I haven't been able to see how the VFR performs. Are all the imports restricted and how else apart from riding it would I be able to tell if it is restricted?

Re: Speed restrictor
Banoffee,
Its an 89 G plate VFR 400 NC30.
Also it has wavey Galfer discs ( Galfer speed kit) with F/R braided hoses, do these offer a great advantage over stock?
Cheers

discs are cosmetic, so not really.Bumder wrote:Banoffee,

hoses offer a little better performance, quality ones dont expand under pressure, so you get the full effect on the calipers.
restrictions are only on the speedo, if you whack a kph - mph converter in then chances are youll never get going fast enough for the CDI to be limited or you can add a resistor to the orange and blue cable that goes from the clocks to the CDI in the rear of the subframe to ignition live, i think its a 2.4 or 2.2 ohm resistor, i cant remember. ill check tomorrow when im in the garage.
also you can buy an additional deristriction unit from Rick oliver a plug and play for under £50 or a honda HRC one for around £200.

Re: Speed restrictor
Thanks for the reply,
It already has a MPH clock fitted.
What should it be resticted to - 110mph? if its still there.

Re: Speed restrictor
Go flat out (on a private road of course) and see how fast it goes. I rarely go over 112 on mine anyway as not many private roads round here that are long enough
Resistor from RO cheap and very easy to fit. However if you're feeling flush you could always get an Ignitech CDI

112mph (180k)Bumder wrote:Thanks for the reply,

You say it has a mph clock.. is this a UK clock or a mph face from one of the after market suppliers like redial?
Either way.. if the clocks been messed with i'd say the speedo restriction was probably taken out.
