NC30 frame, with NC35 engine and forks?

On the hunt for a decent bike in Thailand, I'd be interested to know what forum members think about an NC30 with NC35 forks and engine.

I'd prefer an honest NC30, but they're few and far between. Today I came across another NC30 with an RVF engine. This one had the forks too.





This well maintained NC30/35 looks better than any of the pure NC30's I've seen so far.

I seem to remember the NC35 frame has different engine mount points, but does this provide an advantage in practice? I assume the riding position would be NC30 (frame/fork angle). Are there any other problems with an NC35 engine in a NC30 frame I should be aware of? I'd appreciate a few pointers.

how the fork have been put in, if he's using the rvf yoke set has he used something like rick olivers spacer,

how much lock to lock does it have and does it clear the top rad/ bottom rad

why has he put the rvf motor in, did he blow the last one up, is the bike a bitsa ( bits of this one bits of that one ) or is there a genuine reason for the mods.

Stock RVF forks are no better than late spec stock NC30 forks, from what I've heard. Added in the fact that you have to limit the steering lock due to clearance issues, have to ask the question whether or not, on a performance basis, such a modification is worth it.

Modified RVF forks... or an owner with a penchant for upside-down aesthetics might be a different story though...

Thanks for the advice. All useful. I'm tempted to make an offer for the bike, assuming I can source some NC30 forks to re-install. The lack of a decent turning circle would be a bind in Thai traffic, and I have no love for USD forks (is it me, or are they retrograde engineering?).

I'm off to collect my bike tomorrow afternoon from a major service, of which included an overhaul of the late spec VFR forks i have. when i arrive tomorrow i'll ask if they have a set of standard units for you, they honestly have loads of spares at this place it wouldn't surprise me if they had a spare set kicking around.

P.S where was this bike and how much is the owner wanting mate?
If you really want to make it a stock VFR, i have standard red and black fairings in great condition................

P.S is it me or is the steering damper mounted around the wrong way, it'll still do it's job of course but it'll leave a nasty mark on your leg should the worst happen... :S
