how much forks oil per leg 3TJ model forks?

As title says anyone no how much fork oil 2 put in each fork when fully drained?

The Yamaha 3TJ service manual has the following information;

509cm3 (17.9 Imp oz, 17.2 US oz). I think that cm3 and ml are basicly the same so you could call it 509ml

80mm from top of inner tube, fully compressed without spring.

10w oil

Fork spring free length = 346mm
Wear Limit = < 341mm

When i did my fork seals i think i used about 495ml (100mm from the top of the inner tube) in each leg. I used 15w oil instead of 10w oil to stiffen the front end up a bit as the bike was very soft beforehand. I would say a 500ml bottle of 10w oil (or 15w if you want to stiffen the front up a bit) in each leg would be ok.

You might be better off changing the springs if you can as they are very weak. The 15 wt oil will help if you don't want to though.

also wouldnt 509ml be a bit much for 1 fork? just sounds a fair amount per leg???

try maxton for the springs, they come with oil too, well they did when i ordered a set of progressives, they were about £65 from what i remember!

i think we used some where between 450 and 500ml in the 3en1 so 509 sounds about right with the larger diameter forks on the tj?

509 ml just sounded loads dont think i ever done/seen any forks take any more than around 450ml per leg and when i say 450ml per leg that would be for a bigger bike with USD on it ya no.

Compress your forks and fill to the very top with 15w oil

Add a 10mm solid spacer before screwing up the top

Well, according to my yamaha 3tj service manual the quantity of the fork oil is 433cc (15,2Imp. oz, 14,6 US oz).
Also, the oil level (from the top of inner tube compressed without spring) must be 106mm (4,17in)
And just to know, the minimun free spring length is 364mm (13,9in).

^^^ Those are the specifications for the SP model which has different forks (Adjustable) from the RR model.
