Suspension

Post by alexhumber »

My NC29 suspension is way too soft. I have uprated the fork springs with stiffer versions and added a little more fork oil than standard, but the forks still dive very badly under braking.

Any ideas?

Also, can anyone recommend decent *cheap* rear shock upgrades to improve the back end?

Cheers.

good news: suspension can be upgraded/re-conditioned.
bad news: comes at a cost!

speak to Graeme France for parts. find his profile and send him a PM.
got a set of honda spec forks 2yrs ago just under £100 (i think) with exchange.
i had my mono shock re-conditioned 12 months ago and its buggered already! cost £90! now looking to save up and get a better shock/linkage.

Where did you get the forks from L.P? Sounds like a hell of a bargain.
The rear shock is a must and somebody will come along and explain what to do sometime soon but have you just added the fork oil into what was already there or have you put more in after a rebuild? Did you use a different weight of fork oil?

got the forks from GF. the price will prolly be different from when i bought them, cheaper if you return your old ones back to him. i asked for standard Honda spec on the forks, he can put all sorts of spring/internals/oil combos in for you.

mono shock had a full re-build, new internals/oil etc and only lasted a yr!
fork oil is 10w

Thanks for the info on the forks and shock - I might give GF a try, but cant find his profile on here though?

It's about time the poor thing had a stiffening up!
