NC30 starting issues.

Post by Conan »

So, my bike isn't starting, and i'd like to open this to the floor to see if anyone has any awesome ideas.

Backstory:
house sitting for a week, bike is at house. After two days of not being ridden, bike is a bitch to start, won't crank over, took five or six attempts at bump-starting to get going, rode it round a few blocks, seems fine.
Next day (wednesday), won't start at all. Get the battery charger, hook it up, bam, next morning starts fine and idles okay, i let it run for a while and it's all good.
Friday comes, starts fine, idling fine. Go to ride it home and bam, losing power, throttle kills it when the clutch is out, clutch in is idling fine and will rev okay, but eventually just dies while i'm trying to ride it. Won't re-start. won't bump start. Wait a few minutes, starts, revs a few seconds, then dies. same again. any attempt to give it throttle and it dies.

okay i think, plugs are probably flooded as it feels like it did when that happened on an old bike. Buy new plugs, install them, charge battery up and now absolutely nothing.

Won't start at all, even to die again; engine turns over what sounds like once, then is dead. Plenty of fuel, and no problems before.

any ideas?

I will try replacing the battery tomorrow, although I don't think that's the problem. Also, is the vaccuum hose meant to attach to anything at the other end? I took the tank off, pulled out both the hoses and when reattaching the little one, i was a little surprised to find it just dangling down into the engine, unattached to anything else ...

vacuum hose needs to attach to no3 cylnder. there is a dinky brass spigot there.

If that is not conected then you have no fuel...so it seems pretty obvious what the problem is!
