super four rough running

so two weeks ago i was in this dealers to buy my son a hivis jacket, and there sitting in the corner is a beutifull super four in red with only 8000km on the clock, its a 1993 and in very good nick,well i fell head overheels for her and handed over the cash.The man said he would deliver the bike for me on the wednesday,I was so exited just like a kid with a new toy! not like a 55 year old should act or so my wife reckons! Wednesday Holly the Honda arrives(sorry but ive given her a pet name) ten minuets latter im on her thinking mmm better get some petrol.oh and i suppose i better tax it,ridding home from the garage the trouble started, missing farting spluttering etc etc so i stopped to check the fuel was on(it was) putting it on reserve i managed to get it home and had a quick look round her but nothing seemed obvious so i phoned the dealer and explained the trouble, he said he would come and get it and sort out the next day.The next Monday he phones to say that all is sorted (crap in the carbs) so i get a lift the twenty miles to the shop and jump on her it runs great but its low on fuel so i stop and fill up again park it at home untill yesterday when i go out on her again,and guess what? the same ffffing trouble again it is now back in the shop to be sorted for the second time(since delivery i have done less than 60 miles)
has any one else had these troubles with a super four and is this going to be ongoing,what else could it be other than shit in the fuel system? has any body got any ideas or have suffered the same problems any help would be most welcome, thanks

I have two, the first I bought off ebay as a basket case in 2009 it had not been run since 1998, I took my time getting it put back together, I eventually got it taxed and tested last november It ran well for a few miles then stopped I managed to trace the fault to a blocked breather pipe in the tank itself I pushed a length of boden cable up the small metal pipe underneath the tank until I felt the stoppage I then spun the cable until the jagged end of the cable cut through the blockage.
Its been running fine ever since.
I have found that if you have to switch on to reserve there is a time lag before sufficient fuel is in the carbs to ensure smooth running and you will get a brief period of lumpy running, to get over this either keep the tank topped up or remember how many kms you get before you have to switch over.
If the dealer found crap in the carbs it might be an idea to clean the tank out, what I did was to drain all fuel or whatever was in the tank put some small nuts and bolts (steel) in size 12/13mm and give it a good shake this hopefully will loosen any scale inside the tank remove the nuts and bolts with a magnet on a string after that I cobbled together a pipe to a vacumm cleaner small enough to get in the tank and cleaned up any bits of scale left in there.
Finally I put some neat petrol in to give it a swish around then removed the petrol tap to drain it out I then stripped the tap to make sure the filter was clean then removed the small bowl with the 10mm nut on the bottom (water trap) to make sure it was clean .

I had the same issue with the tank breather pipe being nipped somewhere from whenever the dealer I bought my bike from had the tank off and had put it back on and managed to nip it. Once I got that sorted it's been fine. The way to tell if that's you problem is whenever your bike stops due to the problem simply open the tank, for me I heard a massive suction sound as air was flooding into the vaccuum that had been created in the tank. Hope you get it sorted as I think the SF is a great wee bike.
