Footman James has stupid t&c's

Post by chownsy »

I finally managed to get a quote off them via the phone.

Comp - £250 with £125 excess (i thought OMG thats good)

but then they say im limited to only 3000miles per year (less than 60 miles a week which if was working my last job i would do 30 miles a day lol)

Another restriction was that i need to join either Japanese bikes owners club or Honda bike owners club.

This is because they deem young riders idiots it seems.

Im looking TPO as the value my bike anything will write it off i suspect

Thats why i tried Footman james, I was advised they will pay out the value you deem the bike to be rather than the market value.

Im going to shop about all day, Just annoyed at MCE they phoned me 3 times and hung up all 3 times before i got to speak to them :@

Limited mileage is cheaper on a lot of different companies policys, not just footman james. This is great for weekend warriors, riders of multiple bikes or riders who have a bike and a car.

Did you ask them how much it would be to increase the mileage allowance?

And no offence here but younger riders are probably more of a risk, espeically male ones. Same as with cars. I'm sure theres probably some statistics to back that up. Theres also the lack of experience, not just biking experience but life experience.

There are always going to be exceptions to this, but you have to consider the insurance point of view.

They do an agreed value insurance but you'll have to fill out some forms and have somebody sign them from a certified 3rd party, this is to stop people insuring bangers for bucks and claiming.

The owners club is probably because your riding an older 'mini superbike' these are often negelcted bangers (as you can tell by the state of bikes on ebay)

Riding around a banger that you don't care about that is reasonablly quick isn't a good reflection on how safe the bike and / or rider is going to be.

I've used them for quite a few years, there a really decent company.

And as a picture speaks 1000 words.

Here's the reason why younger people on older bikes are considered the above.. watch the two videos below (NC24)

Me driving while my mate recording allmost hitting a ring and ride van lol breaking speed limit hitting about 75/90

Breaking the speed limit by farrrrrrrrrr over 110 mph on a main road in birmingham with an island at the top of the road boiiiiiiiiii that was insaneeeeeeeeeeee
