NC30 Chain and Sprockets
Hey hey. In the process of changing my chain and sprockets on the bike and I've got a 104 link chain which seems to be too long? I'm putting on a 14t front sprocket and a standard 40t on the back. What length chains have you guys got? Did you have to take a link out?
Thanks

I think 104 is standard and that's what I have for 14t and 40t rear and should fit a treat as you've gone down in size!

Re: NC30 Chain and Sprockets
Just fitted a brand new 104 to 15/42 gearing. Fitted a treat (I bought 106 in case and ended up removing 2 links).

Hmm a little confused here. I'll go rest the master link in and tighten the chain adjuster as much as I can and go from there. Cheers chaps!

Ok. The chain is definitely too long. I think I've been sent a 106 link chain. I've counted the gold links on the chain and there's 53.

106 is too long thats +2 from standard and you have gone down one tooth! You do need a 104 chain.
Kris
Or go 42 teeth at the rear and the chain will be fine!

Re: NC30 Chain and Sprockets
Dang. Although I like the look of a giant rear sprocket I don't really want to fork out for a new rear sprocket as I've just bought this one. I'll contact B&C tomorrow and ask for a replacement. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for the quick replies guys

Re: NC30 Chain and Sprockets
Do you not have a chain tool? Usually the tool you use to clamp the plates together when putting the chain on can also be used to push the pins out thus shortening the chain?

Re: NC30 Chain and Sprockets
Hi Rob,
I've borrowed a chain tool and a dremel from someone at work. I didn't want to push the pins out without removing the heads first and risk breaking the chain tool.
