Cleaning carbs

Post by chownsy »

Rightio

Well the engine is running now and less smokey, the paintwork is all done so i thought it best to move onto cleaning the carbs out so that then i can assemble with the tank on and not have to take it all off agian.

I have stripped the Bottoms off the carbs (the float chambers) and the top (diaphram housing) but left all the mechanism on the external.

How would you go about cleaning these (i odnt have any carb cleaner before you ask)

i have access to a parts washer (uses Swafega jizer bio)

Also while im in the chambers is there anything i should be adjusting (The choke all operates fine, but when you pull the lever on the bike it stalls the bike or does nothing to the revs, is there somehting i need to look at here also)

All help is appreciated

There's an NC30 carb refurb guide on here somewhere, take a look at that. It's pretty much the same as NC24 apart from jet sizes.

Thanks for the link (you can come bring the tape and clean these carbs if you want :P haha)

Would parts degreaser be good for removing all the sludge (looks like rust from previous owners tank) and then cleaning with petrol to remove the cleaner and clean it fully?
