NC30 VIN Numbers

Post by thunderace »

A friend of mine has just picked up an NC30 and is a bit concerned about that fact that the last two digits of the VIN on the frame are illegible and he's not quite sure that they match the V5. I've asked him for the numbers and am waiting for him to get back to me. Is there anyone who can check these out via PM for me?

Was a bit concerned about mine, thought they should have been the same on the frame and chassis apart from the prefix. Checked themagainst the V5 and they're fine.
What else do you need to be checking? If they're what your V5 says then that should be ok.
How hard can it be?

The bike's grey and he thinks that someone has tried to alter the last two digits on the frame.

any mods to the numbers = dodgy.

cat B inurance should see the headstock chopped off but sometimes you get th last 2 numbers defaced.

Don't buy it...walk away...pick another...etc etc..

I can understand why anyone might think numbers have been altered, Mr Honda's attempts at neat letters isn't mine. Any thing looks dodgy? Take a walk.

WHere did he buy it?

I would be worried and unless you can prove the VIN ref on the bike matches the reg number that is on it your mate is going to be fucked.

A cat B write off cannot be used on the road, or at all..it is supposed to be destroyed. If erasing the last 2 numbers is the way to stop legit people buying it then this happens.

Can your mate not take it back? It cannot be more hassle than having a fullon illegal bike? Whatever he does for MOT/Insurance etc will not be right as the bike itself is a duff one....

It sounds like he has bought a shit sandwich and he is about to take a large bite...
