NC29 wont start
Can anyone help with an nc29 that wont start after its been stripped for a clean, the engine was removed from the frame, carbs removed & HT leads so that i could repaint engine covers.
The carbs wernt stripped (inlet horns were blocked up with kitchen towel)
Everythings been put back together now, all wires etc, but she doesnt want to start, engine turns over fine (it ran before the strip down)
Ive checked on the wiring diagram & the connections on the coils are right, the HT leads are on the right cylinders, theres spark on all plugs (which were new before it was stripped down), petrols prob about 6mths old to be picky, but i thought it would ave started even with old juice ? ....ive had the odd backfire & thats it

Hummm...I'll have a look at that, thanks...I did read about that in the haynes manual as a reason why it wouldnt start, how did you cure it ? go up and down a gear a few times or replace the switch ?
I'll have a play with that tomorrow too then, I'm going to drain the tank and get some fresh fuel in it aswell....just incase the fuel has degraded.

Re: NC29 wont start
Are you %110 sure you have the leads on the correct cylinders?

Re: NC29 wont start
99%..........I marked the coil's & leads with paint marks before i unplugged them & the HT leads must be on the right cylinders because they wont reach to any others........the left side feeds 1 & 4 and the right coil feeds 2 & 3.
The wiring to the coils is correct too I checked it with the wiring diagram.

Re: NC29 wont start
Is it getting any fuel, have you checked that the fuel pump is working?
Does it dire up with some easy start squirted into the carb mouths?
Definatly sounds like a fuel problem to me.

Re: NC29 wont start
Great .......my racebike nc23 has developed the same problem !!
turns over, nuetral light (no sidestand switch) but no whirring of the fuel pump on starting ....
Checked power to fuel pump relay on start ....No power....
by-passed the fuel pump relay and fuel pump runs fine.
Checked spark....nothing
swapped cdi still nothing
pulse coils next i think then change home made race loom.......

Re: NC29 wont start
lol.. corky....It does yer head in dont it .....Yep fuel pumps working....only thing i have noticed , When i look down the horns into the carbs I can see small amounts of fuel at the bottom of all ports except for the first....which could indicate a blockage...but wouldnt it still start on 3 cyl ??...just run rough ?
