Re: lighten rear hub
It won`t be balanced,so I personally wouldn`t do it,too much work for nothing,it won`t make your bike any quicker

Re: lighten rear hub
Surely more weight would increase traction. I can't see any benefit of removing weight

Check out michaels rvf in the members bikes section, Ti rear hubs for the rich. There also at least one other member on here with one.

Re: lighten rear hub
They're not titanium hubs, but steel axles, that Michael had made, I have one of them and they are very well made and approx 500g lighter. The hub could be made a bit lighter and since it's static, it won't hurt any balance only strenght. Removing weight from the rear hub/axle assy really HELPS traction since the shock will have an easier time and yes theoreticly the rear will spin up faster, but it doesn't hurt traction, it's not GSXR thou after all. I found that the 2.3 kilos (HRC axle, ISR rear brake, renthal sprocket, lightened sprocket carrier, ti bolts and one off suspension linkage) I have removed of unsprung weight really really make a big difference, especially to rebound feel.

Re: lighten rear hub
My bad I thought they were ti. Still that's a pretty decent weight saving. Does anyone have drawings or info on what's been taken off and where?
