Why not fit a new clutch?

zero monies hense the use of the same clutch nut too.

sort of... the more i use the clutch, the greater the freeplay at the lever becomes, which is sending the biting point (as tiny as it is) all over the shop.

I'm thinking of changing my plates on my own (I have very, very little mechanical experience) to save money and because I want to eventually be competent enough to service my own bike. My clutch is slipping like mad when I accelerate (revs shoot up, then come back down and get a sudden surge of power). Would you say this is too big a job for a newbie? Just needs new plates and possibly a new spring.

Also I'd love a copy of the manual, I have the Haynes but it seems vague in places, PM me if you have a copy you could send and I'll shoot you my email.

It isn't beyond the reach of a beginner if your sensible, take your time and check everything,

You'll seed a few tools to get the clutch off but it isnt vastly difficult.

i got a carbon / kevlar uprated clutch friction plate set from Rick O inc the uprated springs.
easy fit, never done it before. in & out in 30 mins but when fitted back together, i got really bad lever / cable set up / adjustment & nothing but slipping & couldnt ride the bike past 6000 rpm.
i tried every adjustment possible & got no joy, so i stripped it again & noticed the clutch spring stack (x3) brand new & uprated, were not a thick enough!
i added a standard spring, put it all back together & it has been perfect ever since.
