Totally DEAD!

Hello Gents
Been a while since iv posted here, been busy with my baby

Anyways, iv got a bit problemo with my Nc30...heres a bit of her history to get you guys into the picture,
last month she went in for a service and the usual at the local bike shop, picked her up and she ran "OK"
but the machanic did tell me shes running a bit lumpy around 6k there after shes clear,so id be needing
to book her in for a carb cleanin and balancing,i didnt think it was too bad so i took it away, rode it for 5min and realised it was pretty bad but i was already on my way home so i decided to leave it for the next week...
for the rest of the week i started her up to just keep the battery going and all seems well till thee day, saturday
when i need to get her to the garage, try starting her and she turns over but dies off after a few seconds, after
a few min i get her going but she isnt sounding good so i check the exhaust outlets and its runing on three cylinders...
ok now i know shes flooded a plug(the machanic also told me this would eventually happen) so i get ready to pullem all out and give them all a good clean up,got down and dirty and cleaned them out, got them in,
and then i realised oops the battery is kinda dead from all that swinging,so me being the eager nut that i am
decide hey i have a spare car battery lying around,im sure this will give it enough power,
hook it up to the frame and the positive terminal and it doesnt do much so i decide hey how much harm can i do
if i put it straight to the battery terminals....BAD IDEA!!
well anyways she fires up first time but shes runin on 3 cylinders again and she aint idling,so i just held the choke for about a min and then slowly put in some throttle...and voowala she fires on all four cylinders...
so im super man here, thinkin iv finaly got it right, well not exactly...you see once she was firing on all 4... i decided to hold her at about 5k just to charge up the battery a little, VERY BAD IDEA!
I had forgotten that the car battery was still hooked up!!! i held it at 5K for about a minute and then the neutral light jus goes a little brighter and then total DEAD!!!!

Now for the past month iv been trying to figure out what i could have fried, but i dumbstruck,
was thinking of carting her of to the bike shop(EXPENSIVE) and get them to do it,but i wanted to just run it past you nc30 GURUS

Re: Totally DEAD!
Could well have fried the genny and reg-rec.
good chance you've blown the main fuse though, have you checked this? this is the green 30amp fuse in the starter solenoid.. if its gone everything will be totally dead.
The car battery can abosorb a lot more juice than a bike battery, so it stands to reason that you've probably popped the 30amp trying to charge it with the bike
Take a look at the genny and reg-rec outputs after you get it running again and make sure there still proividing proper voltages otherwise take it as they fried too.

Re: Totally DEAD!
Thanx for the reply Neo
Spoke to the mach and he advised me to do the same, said its most probably the fuse
That has poped,if not , he'l get it picked up and sorted.
Only chance to check the fuse will be tomorrow after work,

Re: Totally DEAD!
Hi Guys
Just thought id update you guys on whats happening with the bike.
Thanx Neo for the suggestions ,it turned out to be a fuse in the starter solenoid that was shot
but what im curious about is that you said it would be a 30amp fuse ,mine was a 15amp fuse
with a spare in the rubber compartment on the side, replaced it and it now comes on,so anyway
i tried starting her up but she would not budge ,sounds as if the starter is turning but she isnt firing up,
it just keeps swinging,im assuming its just the plugs ,will try and get them out tonight and get them cleaned out.
hopefully its only that!
if you guys have any suggestion, please do post them
@Mx-gringo i see you're from the durban area, wouldnt mind hooking up you some time if i eva sort my BEAST
out lol
