pressurising the float chambers

Post by zymon »

Is it true that you get a partial ram air affect when you do the air tray and big airbox with extended snout mods on the hrc nc35 carb setup ??

As i understand you then have to equalize the pressure to the carbs ya ? you plumb a breather pipe from the back of the airbox lid into the two breather pipes which used to go to the sub filter?

If you were to say have this setup and you used a modded air filter to fit in the airbox it doesnt leave a lot of space to get the breather pipe into the airbox lid, my question being is - Would it be possible to use the air filter plastic carcass and use the path where the drain goes on the back ( has a half moon shaped into the filter body ) left if you drilled a hole into the air filter plastic part and then used the drain pipe on the base as a part to connect the hose to ? Would this suffice over the plumbed hole from airbox lid instead ??

If you guys think it would help by putting a picture up to explain better i shall :-)

Basically i made an oversight and a half and forgot all about venting the carbs and looking at it i was wondering if my idea would be a suitable fix as im using a filter....

Thanks in advance :?

the HRC box is not proper ram air..you need proper setup for a sealed system.

have a quick search for dynopro, BMC etc - they all deal in the airboxxes..

Forget the first part of my thread just help me with the filter side of my query lol

I know its not a proper ram air system but when you take the plastic/rubber flaps away and use the hrc lower tray and hrc airbox lid you do get a bit extra pressure , i spoke to chris at dynopro racing and he told me you get this occurrance- which he says plays a bit of havoc with the running of it ( and thats why he uses full ramair on nc30 carbs ( typical! i get nice hrc nc35 kit and he says nc30 stuffs better and easier to mod lol ) , and i guess its got to be true otherwise why would honda plumb a pipe from the back of the airbox into the carb vent pipes on the hrc nc35 carb setup ??

Like i said, ive already got my bike at this stage but as i run a filter im just putting a question out there to see other peoples input as to whether my idea would be a good try or not- measure twice cut once and all that ;) dont want to start making holes in air filter housing if some replies with big fat no !

Thanks so far tho , it is aprreciated ;)
