Charging problem
Hi again, okay so another problem has occurred with the wife's bike, for some reason it will only charge the battery while the lights are off, and when the lights are on it doesn't take long to sap the juice from the battery, it makes no difference with the bike running at 5000rpm, it has had a R6 reg rec wired in for a while now, but with its list of problems this is a new one - so any ideas?
I haven't been able to check yet, but could it be the bulbs (if they where uk spec H4's) I only ask coz I had to shave a little bit of melted plastic in the switch gear.
Also I seem to have my book of lies, so could someone enlighten me with the correct bulbs to use.

Good call, check the output and resistance of your genny.
Sounds like you have a JDM bike with H4 bulbs in it, they were originally designed for 35/60 watt bulbts not 55/60 watt H4's.
The uk bikes handle the light power via a relay, where the JDM bikes just run straight through the switch, whch doesn't handle the extra 40 watts of power too well and starts to melt over-time.
The H4's are better as they throw more light out but you will need to install a relay to handle the extra power, its an easy job, full guide here.

Genny wise.. take the plug with the yellow wires off and at 5000rpm measure between the wires with the meter set to AC volts.. you shld have 50v at 5000rpm between each of the wires (try all combinations of the 3 wires)
