Need help with brakes

The front brakes dont want to build up pressure , Master cylinder piston and seals has been replaced ,all pistons in calipers removed , cleaned , refitted and seals appear OK......it takes about 2 bar air presure to move the pistons , but when i bleed the brakes , i get flow and fluid from nipple , but the pistons do not budge

any one else had the same hassle before?

i had the same problem and all it needed was bled at the m/c.....pump the lever a few times then loosen the banjo bolt whilst holding the lever......do this a few times and hopefuly you should get pressure and the pistons will move. :D

get a hrc or equivilant bleeder for the m/c

One thing I found was that if you weren't very careful you end up with an air bubble in the hose to the res, I ended up giving the tube a squeeze before every pull on the brake lever until there were no bubbles going into the res.

I had the same problem untill today i sorted it out because my bike is prohibited off the road for a bauld front tyre and a spongey front brake. All i did was bleed the brakes and there was a bit more pressure, not perfect but good enough, the copper told me i needed new front brake pads so i bought some, when i took my old ones out they were no worse off than the new ones, the things they do to put you out ay!

Oh yeah, before i put the new pads in i had to get a small g-clamp to budge the pistons, try that it should work.

I've also had good results when the lever feel has been bad by clamping the lever on full, leaving it for a while then releasing it, repeat a few times and should improve feel.

Hi there

Thank you all for the feedback.....it seems one has to persevere when bleeding these brakes.

Finally getting them right. Had to go so far as te semi fill the calipers with fluid first ......fit one .......bleed that and get it to work....and then do the other one. Got the pistons to move and they are SLOWLY building up pressure.

What a mission and a half , thank goodness i did not take it to a mech.Imagine being charged by the hour
