35watt dip bulb

Post by arsey30 » Fri Sep 03, 2010 8:12 pm

The dip beam on my NC35 is poor.
Are there any Japanese spec type bulbs of higher [60/55?] wattage available, I have only seen H4.

Has any one tried making a 3 legged Jap spec bulb shim to fit beneath the bulb, so that the 2 lower bulb legs can be removed, and an H4 bulb fitted.?
Thanks,

Dave.

easy dave there has been disc's made to go in behind the buld before the retaining spring id put on to allow you to bend or chop the two lower tabs off the H4 bulbs. owever doing this with out doing to highbeam relay made will result in time in a burnt out swtich on your left hand swtichgear. been there, done that etc etc.

i have a 60/55 H4A bulb in my castrol bike, no idea who makes it ( will look if you want ) and i think it came in a headlight i bought yonks ago so god knows if you can still get them.
It's not having what you want but wanting what you've got....Loud ,Proud and Modified ....

I ftted a dip lamp relay to my NC30, but the NC35 comes with it fitted as standard.
I have spare 60/55 H4 bulbs, but does any one make a disc shim to the Japanese spec bulb pattern fitting.

So that allows you to run H4 globes in an old Jap bike.. But the original NC35 globes are 60/35w.. And I think you can get 60/35w H4 standard globes but they'll be pretty much the same..

How can you make it so that you can run any of the aftermarket H4 globes (like the +60% light, +40% whiter), which I'm pretty sure are all 60/55w's?

You need to install a low beam relay. Pretty simple DIY, or any auto elec can do it for you. Standard NC's are only rated for 60/35w globes if you don't fit a relay it can & will fry your wires.

To run normal H4's just cut off the 2 lower mounting tabs and it will fit fine.

The NC30 uses a relay for the high beam as the 60 watts draws too much power to put through the switch, the UK model used a relay for the low beam too.

Since the Japanese model only ran 35watts on the low beam the power runs right through the switch. If you install a H4 60/55 watt bulb in these bikes, you can burn the switch out over time as the current it too high.

Installing a relay to carry the load is easy. See the link below for how to install it.

NC35 has no light switch, but does have a high and low beam relay
