CBR400 NC23 Carb gaskets
I have eventually managed to remove the carbs from my bike to investigate
1. why it really stinks of fuel after a run.
2. why the choke assembly doesnt work
1. I believe its leaking from at least 2 of the float chambers but i have decided to open them all up, one at a time, and give them a good clean. I dont really want to be using the old gaskets as they must be deteriorated anyway due to obvious leaks. Does anyone know where i can get a full set of gaskets from? Can I even get them, or is it a case of making do with gasket sealers or similar?
2. I also need a new choke cable, nice cheap fix hopefully !
Thanks in advance.

Thatll be a dont know for gaskets then !
Can anyone recommend a decent gasket sealer for the float bowls? I am having trouble finding one that isnt broken down by petrol.

just had a look on there, thanks.
Although listed at £12 per carb, so 12 x 4 ....... thats...erm....£48 !! bloomin heck ! I only need the float bowl gaskets - must be about £1 worth of rubber ! Call me a tight so and so but i would rather find a sealant for sure now!

Try GF, he might have some good used ones.

Re: CBR400 NC23 Carb gaskets
A few years ago when i had my nc23 i was going to clean my carbs out too see if it made any improvements to the performace, I called GF to order some gaskets but he recommended some liquid gasket sealer..
Give him ring and see what he says

Re: CBR400 NC23 Carb gaskets
I figured a sealant was the best bet for me as the gaskets are just a rip off, trouble was finding one resistant to petrol - ended up getting hylomar blue on the advice of the local bike mechanic. Just need to do it now, will have to be v careful ! dont want any getting in the float bowl and blocking a jet......
ordered a choke cable off wemoto.

Re: CBR400 NC23 Carb gaskets
well - sealed the float bowls - doesnt leak fuel anymore after going on a run.
no problems first time on it - did a good 20 miles ride out, felt great although still cut out a few times when ticking over - 2nd time on it last night however....It is only running on 3 cyclinders now i think..........sob sob. Before i take the carbs off again (i assume a jet is blocked to be honest) - anyone got any tips i can tell which cylinder it is and if i can check its fuel starvation rather than a plug or lead.
I hate the bike at the moment !

Re: CBR400 NC23 Carb gaskets
Assuming you've used Hylomar or similar (good sfuff) to seal the float bowls, it MAY be that you've used a bit too much and a blob of that has blocked a jet. You only need the lightest smear to get a good seal.

yes - used hylomar blue - sealed it a treat but i expect you are right and some has gone in one of the carbs somewhere - I was careful too ! but i did put a generous bead on ! hopefully i can find the particular carb easily.
