A strange rattle?
Okay the wife's bike is playing up again... It will be fine while idling or running then a strange rattle starts to develop almost like a pinging sound, it sounds quite low down the engine, behind all the fairing, I've taken the fairing off to see if there's anything loose and can't find anything, so what could it be internally? Also the engine seems to lose power while it's having one of these moments...
Also doesn't help that it's intermittent either.
So any ideas - this ones got me worried is it dying it is a 80000km bike?
Thanks again people.
Matt

Re: A strange rattle?
Matt,
You sure its internal? Ive got 70k NC and i started it up the other day and heard the same sort of sound, shit myself, i took the lower off and after searching around i saw it was the exhaust joints. i put a screwdriver against the exhaust and it stopped.
is this possible??
Kris

Me too. Pesky kids. Why can't they play with their own toys?vfrman wrote:rickyb_dj wrote:it isnt an extension bar dropped inside your exhaust by a child by any chance?

Mine had a vague rattle when I bought it. A flange of the header was off, nuts missing ut the joint wasn't blowing. The flange was rattling off and on where it was hanging off the pipe under the engine. The guy who sold it thought it was an internal problem so sold it me cheap.
I'm guessing you'd have noticed something like that though.
Stethascopes are great for finding rattles if you can scrounge one.

At least the kid isn't taking a scredriver to the bodywork like my friend's kid did to my bike! Don't worry, it wasn't the NC, it was the Blade, so I didn't care... as much.Mananon wrote:Me too. Re: A strange rattle?
well i have a removeable baffle for the tyga, gotta bike safe course in sept with north wales police and i dont want to upset them with a loud exhaust, but with that in theres no chance of anything being dropped down, and i also have a 40-60mm rubber exhaust bung designed for motorx bikes but i push that in really hard.
