NC30 brake caliper change....what other fit?
i did a search and mostly found that cbr6 and sp-1 calipers fit directly to rvf's.....but mines a vfr...
i like the look of sp-1 calipers, no idea if they are better than vfr calipers though, but mine are 19 years old and sometimes my brakes scare the crap out of me even though i have s/s braided lines and quite new pads!
so i could get sp-1 calipers from ebay....but would i need some adapter plates (or similar) made up so they attach to the forks?
would the braking performance increase with sp-1 calipers? or would i need a bigger m/c as well?
anyone have any other suggestions to make the front brakes a bit more awesome? would love some sexy new calipers on the front, just dont know if its a bolt on and go job......
ideas?

Re: NC30 brake caliper change....what other fit?
Rick Oliver can supply adapter plates for VFR's to allow different caliper mountings. I run Brembo's on my road and track bike with a GSX-R master-cylinder (non-radial) on the road bike, and an R1 m/c on the track bike (again, non radial)
You will be able to fit,
CBR600,
Early 'Blade,
SP1,
Firestorm,
Along with a good range of Ducati/Aprilia Brembos as long as they are the 65mm spacing.

so are there any calipers that i can buy that will just fit on without adapter plates?? 65mm you say?
would there be any noticeable difference with new (well, different) calipers?

There aren't any bolt-on replacement that I know off, but my Brembo's are frighteningly sharp. I also have a K5 750 with radials and the 400's brakes are better than them IMO. Both calipers have Carbon Lorraine pads but the bite on the 400 is a lot better.

which cbr600 calipers? the F series or RR bikes??? because they look identical to sp-1 calipers, well from what ive seen on ebay....although cbr ones are cheaper than sp-1 calipers....on ebay....i would love some gold calipers simply for the 'ooooh shiney' factor haha

The only bolt on calipers are early honda rs250, and they aint cheap or common!
All of the calipers that Viper mentioned will bolt on with adapter plates. The 600rr are the same as sp1.

Re: NC30 brake caliper change....what other fit?
yes i know that i cant fit radial calipers....unless i violently abuse my bank account and fit some other forks....dont think i could justify that though!
from what i can see 1997 (ish) fireblade calipers and cbr 600 and sp-1 calipers are actaully the same...there seems to be a vast price difference though!! theres quite a few sets of cbr calipers but they're not gold like sp-1 calipers....i could always spray them up....
nearly purchased a set of rvf calipers...they came with machined adapter plates so they'll fit my nc30....however they dont have the pad pins or the metal plate things that sit on top of the pads...
heres a dumb question though - ive got s/s braided lines on currently...if i change my calipers will my lines still 'work' are they all a universal length or would i have to buy new ones?

Re: NC30 brake caliper change....what other fit?
you want the later model calipers - not the RVF or early blade ones.
The ones you need have the casting ridge across the back and have 2 pad retaining pins/
I have the CBR600FX calipers, identical to the SP1 and CBR6rr ones but in black..nice and understated.
You will need new lines as the angles of the banjo is different at the caliper end.

Re: NC30 brake caliper change....what other fit?
and rvf ones don't fit ,they fit the bracket ,and the brackets fit on the legs but they all don't fit altogether,i've been down that road before .....

It's not having what you want but wanting what you've got....Loud ,Proud and Modified ....
