Re: help please
What does the "mechanic" say?
He should be able to ell you whether it is the rings/bores or the valves..
It really boils my piss to hear that people are paying for mechanic work on their bikes and usually these bloody mechanics get nothing done, cannot diagnose anything and then expect to be paid for doing fuck all...
rant over..

Re: help please
Sounds like this mechanic has forgot to put your spark plugs back in and then forgot to attach the compression tester dial to the it's pipe!
failing that he's just trying to fleece you, no way your bike would have NO compression across all four cylinders, even with no valves, or holes in all 4 pistons, the compression tester dial would move / fluctuate a little!!
He's probably over exaggerating, was he testing it hot/cold, has the engine been left lying around for a long time, were the bores wet / dry, started motor good......... It had two cylinder heads right??
many questions to be asking him before accepting his lazy ass verdict, but in reality he should be give you more info mate

Re: help please
As been said you need more information.
Engines just don't go out of time, especially cam-gear driven ones.
Lets start again from the start :-)
What problem(s) are you having with the bike.

Re: help please
i bought a second hand engine and put it in the bike myself, i was told that i engine is still good with no problems, i tried to start it but it doesnt want to start, it has spark and the engine wants to turn over buts its not firing up, i took it to the dumb ass mechanic, after having it for a few days he tells me that there is no compression, he proberly means that there is no compression in one or two of the cylinders
so now what problems can cause this????

Re: help please
Head gasket failure.
Get him to give you the exact compression from each of the cylinders
