I thought Brooks were taking the piss to be honest, right grumpy sounding bloke on the phone too. When I said it was for an NC30 and I wanted it refreshed, shimmed and resprung he said he couldnt do it, then I explained it was an RS shock and Im sure he just picked a number out of the air, because he couldnt be bothered or wasnt sure what to do!
Will have a ring round some other guys then, see if I can get it done for a realistic price by someone that hasnt got a bug up his ass!

Im sure i rung someone like K tech or maxton and i think they said around 160 ish you can definatly get it cheaper. Trick is to get the spring seperatly the just get them to rebuild the shock. Ive got my daughters sports day first thing but will post the shock lunctime ish.

Shock received thnks!

Ok, so rung round a few places and I've been quoted £55+ parts for the refurb by revs racing, but £80 for a new spring.
I can get a new spring from Faulkners Race Springs for around £30, are these any good?

Only thing is I cant seem to get any of the suspension places to tell me what poundage spring I need, is it a black art????
Im 14.5st, 15.5 in my bike gear. (fat git!)

Faulkener springs come standard in black but they do there on powdercoating for £3.50 per spring, bargain!
They advised me to ring maxtons to try and find out spring rate.

Not bloody happy!!!!

After hunting around to get someone to refresh my RS shock, my local bike shop said they could do it for me, no worries. Great I thought, will save me postage etc. They've had it 3 weeks, then I get a phone call this morning saying they had started doing it but come across a problem, one of the seals was weeping and as they don't service shocks, what did I want to do about it???????

WTF!!!!

What did they think I wanted done to the bloody thing, give it a clean and paint bloody flowers on it??? Arghhhh!!!

So I'm back at the beginning trying to find a place to sort it!!!

I have two of these shocks and have been looking for seals to do the rebuild myself.
I'm not paying that sort of money.

How would you go about the re-gas??? Worst thing about the quoted prices is that the bloody shock is already off the bike and ready to work on!!!!

A rear shock is one of the only things I have never messed with and to be honest I do get a bit feed up with companys acting like Yoda when it comes to suspension and hiking the prices up!!!...

I have seen a Ohlins shock get rebuilt with new seals and that was a quick 35min job inc oil change but the correct tools are a must!!!

A friend was quoted 200quid for a NC30 fork rebuild not inc springs or seals  can you believe that!! I did it for him in 45mins including a quick cuppa ;) that also inc Hagon spings and Honda seals when I had a account for half that!! very easy job..

Again I will ask does any body have a exploded diagram of the Sachs shocks with part numbers etc??????????
