NC30 VFR400N Fork Colour

Post by HondaSan »

Hi there,

Can anyone tell me what colour the fork leg lowers are on the later model Red/Black NC30's (1993 - Type 7 colour scheme) please?

Mine have been sprayed silver but as the forks are currently stripped I'm going to get them powder coated and I'd like to put them back to the standard colour.

The photos I've seen on the net look as though they should be a dark grey but is it flat or metallic. My parts manual also lists some forks as being "Max Brown Metallic" which makes me wonder if they should be the same weird "brown" that the filler cap is painted and not grey at all :?

Thanks.

I'd be interested in this too, Mine doesnt have the original forks on it and I'd be interested to find out what colour they should actually be!

My fork lowers are going tomorrow and I've decided on a dark grey metallic powder coat (though I'm not sure if powder coat can be given a metallic finish)?

I don't think a "browny-grey" fork leg would have looked right!

dont let the brown put you off, its more a dark metallic with a hint of bronze and works nice in the sunlight.
a good alternative is the same as the NC30 engine cases, which is similar to a ford mercury grey

Agreed, I think the standard fork leg brown colour looks pretty classy.

Has anyone got a picture of some forks in this browny colour?
Want to respray my fork legs next month when I get an RO fork kit and would be interested to see what colour they should be!

From (my fading) memory all post-89 models had the brown coloured forks (89 models had silver fork legs). It's not noticeably brown, more like a dark grayish only the metallic component makes it look this in the sunlight as CRM suggested above.

Example:

Just google some nc30 pics for other examples. It's something you need to see in person to appreciate.

So how would I go about finding some kind of match or paint code for this colour?

I take as theres not many forks in this colour on anyones bikes that most people prefer silver??
I kinda quite like it, I like the colour of my petrol cap too! lol
