Edit: Upgrading 89 NC30 forks or to ZXR 400
bellow is a pic of my cockpit, but im unsure wether i can adjust my forks, the haynes says you cant on one model but can on the other, the forks seem to bottom out when you try push down hard with front brake,
i believe they have recently been reconditioned, before i bought the bike, but just currious if i can make them a little stiffer?

That is the early type, only adjustable for spring preload (sag setting, aim to get 25-35mm of rider sag, with the ladder aimed at the street)
you could change the springs and oil, heavier springs will carry your weight better, thicker oil will dampen more and more oil (less airgap) will give more progressive pressure build-up in the end of the stroke. But there is alot of trial and error in getting it "just right".
I got the same forks on my race bike, with racetech cartridge emulators (from PDQ, great value), racetech springs (0.90kg/mm), modified and polished damper rods (to suit emulators) and a big alloy bottom yoke. Very good and responsive setup, but the main problem with these forks, even with the emulators is lack of rebound adjustment and positive rebound control. You can only adjust the rebound by changing oil and that will also affect compression plus if you go thick enough on the oil to get good lowspeed rebound, you will have way to much high speed rebound... not good!!
But that is for medium to fast group trackday pace, they should and are great on the street

im only a little 5"5' weighing in at 70kg i havent had them bottom out when riding just want something a little more tougher and adjustable, i do alot of off road cycling and i love the choice i have with my forks on my cycle,
what are my options in buying different or better forks, maybe adjustable upside down forks, what ones cant i directly replace without big expence with brake calipers, and yoke changes, simply put an in out jobby?

im now considering the ZXR 400 fork conversion but whats are my pros and cons and costs and needs for labour etc
i really want to plan this right so i cant get it done without to much trouble.
i really know nothing about the conversion ive searched but seem to come back with irelivant results! like the BING advert haha
having said all the above if the job is a big cash burden what are my other options with making my forks more adjustable.
you help is as always appriciated.

ZXR conversion is quite pricey once you factor in everything.
Rick Oliver on here does a fork upgrade kit with springs for both types of NC30 forks, give him a PM and explain what your after and see what he recommends!
That'll be your cheapest decent option to get a decent fork upgrade.
