how do i remove the glass from the mirrors (NC30)

Post by porndoguk »

how do i remove the mirror glass from the mirror housing?

i ordered a new set of mirrors from ebay the other week of a hong kong seller, however in the post the nuts have come undone on the left and the mirror is separate from the arm, the right hand side is very loose and would fairlong with the throttle open,

i noticed that now that i have all the parts that just normal nuts have been used and not nylock ones as you would expect. so to obviously put back together i need the glass out to reatach the nuts, washer and spring, but i shall replace the nut with a nylocker.

please help rick

very difficult but it is possible.

Put the mirrors in a bowl of red hot water for 10 minutes to allow the plastic to become soft.

You can then prise out the mirror glass (be careful not to break it :D)

i tend to use a sucker on the glass to pull it evenly while bending the plastic back, do not be tempted to lever the glass out else it will break

your a genius, i never thought of that,

the one i did have was to keep going round the edge with a scalpal, but it would have taken ages and chances are my finger tips too.

ill be chuffed if i can get them out so i can put nylocker's on, what a stupid idea just to use bolts!

cheers neo,

Rick

this is so frustrating, ive broken one glass, had to chop the glass out of the old fitting to avoid breaking it, now trying to get it back in is imposible,

got the sauce pan boiling hot, yellow marrigolds, and im trying everthing but it just wont go in, and im scared of breaking this one because ill have no glass to replace it with.

Hence the very difficult!

I've broken a few.. managed to get a couple out too.

Work the long sides rather than the edges is all i can say man.

i think ill just drill a 20mm hole in the bottom/rear and then bung it! so i can get a nylock in there!
