Hello! I'm desperatley looking for a temp sensor for my nc30
Hi all, I have recently purchased a 1994 nc30 and its not overheating as far as I know but I have been told I need a new temp sensor! as when i turn ignition on and connect the temp sensor the gauge goes right round past the hottest mark and then when I remove the wire from the sensor it drops back to where it should be when bike is off etc.... if this tells any one on here that knows more about these bikes than me, that maby its something else that is wrong with it please please tell me!? :)
I will obviously buy the sensor if in good fully working order from anyone that has one?
paypal payment would be best for me.
Thank you very much all and I look forward to reading more posts from you all and making some myself :)

I think there is one on e-Bay, but before you go buying one, is your frame powder-coated? Royster on here had a similar issue so PM him and he might be able to point you in the right direction.

Yep - dodgy earths can cause the temp gauge to go crazy. Make sure they are all clean and tight

Ah didn't think a dodgy earth would make it go crazy but it seemed to work out of the blue the other day but after it got bit hotter it then started bouncing around the temp like it would be at the middle of the gauge and then it would move suddenly like 5mm up and then back down and back up then stay there..........
Not sure what that could be?but probably is the earth so thank you for the advise guys, I have a good look over it and might set the fan on a switch circuit instead so i can control when it comes on, that might help eh?

Oh and in regards to your question, frame not powder coated no, would be great if it was though! Although it is very shiny anyways

Fan is off a different sensor.tyrantputty wrote:Ah didn't think a dodgy earth would make it go crazy but it seemed to work out of the blue the other day but after it got bit hotter it then started bouncing around the temp like it would be at the middle of the gauge and then it would move suddenly like 5mm up and then back down and back up then stay there..........Not sure what that could be?but probably is the earth so thank you for the advise guys, I have a good look over it and might set the fan on a switch circuit instead so i can control when it comes on, that might help eh?

The fan is driven off a sensor in the lower radiator (on the left hand side).
The temp gauge is driven off a sensor in the thermostat 'bottle' on the RHS of the engine.
It's easy enough to remove and replace, about 30quid for a new one though!!!

Cheers for that, yeah they are expensive! I've got the fan on a switch now rather than looking into the switches etc.
Had the steering bearings replaced today and also the carbs balanced by the same garage but now it won't idle any lower than 2500rpm!!!!
I'm not very happy now, everything else is spot on, put new front brake pads in, work great, just need them to bed in as alittle always on at the moment until they bed in.
Anyways I'll keep you posted on how things go, carbs are the main concern now as its annoying idling at usually 3000rpm!

idling at 2500 rev even with the idler screw turned right down?
Is the choke stuck open? You are going to have to check it out...take it back and get the garage to take the carbs on and off again if you don't feel up for it.
