You might have to strip and clean the carbs.I do not think the nc30 lowers will fit but I am sure ebay must have some nc21 or 24 ones. They are identical./

yeah bin doing some searchin an nc30 wont fit. Only ones on ebay are the cheap ones from hong kong an im told they dont fit to well. If the carb is gunked up would it do it any damage tryin to start it. Or du think i should clean them before tryin.

Not much from the NC30 will fit.
NC21 lowers will there identical.
You might want some new tyres after that amount of time, no doubt there hard and unsafe.
130/70/18 rear and 100/90/16 front.
-Carbs will probably need a strip and good clean, would reccomend this before you start to fire it up
-Drain the oil and replace it with replace it with new along with the filter
-Do the same for the brake fluids front and rear
Apart from that it should be good to go, check all the bearings for play (wheels / swingarm / fork bearings)
Make sure all the bolts are nice and tight, you dont' want anythign to fall off.

Re: nc24 startin after 2 years
good point i didnt think about tyres. I notice you got a zx4r an a nc24 which would you say was the better bike. I watched a japanese video on you tube about nc24 handling test, the only sports bike ive rode is a fzr400 an theres no way i could of chucked that about the way this jap was he was ridin it like id ride a supermoto. Has the fzr got bad handlin or is the vfr better than usual.

Re: nc24 startin after 2 years
Not being funny but thats probably the skills of the rider rather than the bike (though all the 400's are really chuckable)
Most of the 'competition shows' you seen on youtube from Japan are very skilled riders who've put countless hours of practice into what they do.
Rather than an average Joe who has just got on a bike and can ride the nuts off it, buying an NC24 wont make you ride like that!
From a riding point of view the NC24 is nice, it's got soft suspension, a V4 engine with a lovely 180 growl but they can cost a hell of a lot to keep on the road, have old odd size wheels and tyres making good rubber hard to come by.
It all depends on what your after.
The ZXR has better suspension, better brakes and better tyres (you can still get modern day rubber for them due it have 17's)
You can push the ZXR a lot harder than you can an NC24.
The build quality isn't as good as it's a Kawasaki, and it's engine is noisy compared to the rolex'esq quality of the Honda motor.
I'd say all the old 400's are really easy to ride fairly well but there not like new bikes. They can be less forgiving.
My favourite 'new' bike big i'd reccomend to anyone is a CBR600F, circa 97-98 :) They last forever, have more power than the 400's, better tyres and they are really forgiving to ride.
The NC24's enjoyable for what it is though, you can still have plenty of fun on it! I'm quite fond of mine...

Re: nc24 startin after 2 years
im paying £250 for it with a spare engine. which i dont think is too bad really, even if i have to spend a fair few hundred getting it up to scratch. could of just bought a more expensive bike but half the fun of owning a bike is working on it. makes you respect it more. an i love the single swingarm.
ive heard a lot of bad stuff about the suspension an tyres on the nc24, ive seen kits available for the forks with better springs does anyone know how much difference these kits make, i may just have a go at fitting nc35 usd forks. an is it true rs250 back shock fits without to much work. do want to make this bike as perfect as it can be so willing to put the money in an get the best parts.
others seem to like the brakes on these do you actually think there s##t or just not up to zx4 stanards.
also is there any other wheels i can get a more standard size, i know theres not to many options with the single swingarm. maybe ducati??
pickin it up wednesday now so will post some picks soon.

an i think my favorite new bike has to be the crb600 too. the later one with the exhaust under the seat though around the 2003 mark maybe.

Re: nc24 startin after 2 years
NC30/35 forks are WAY too short...
The NC24 brakes are ok, there 2 piston sliders, so long as you use decent pads and keep the brakes in good condition by making sure they slide there not half bad.
No where near as good as NC30 / ZXR 4 piston calipers though.
BT45 tyres are available which arn't too bad, good for general street riding, you can ride them to the edge, just need to be a little crazy :-)
You could put a 17" front on off an NC23 / VFR750 (early!!) RC24 I think... but this will affect the handling as the geometry is setup for a 16" front.
In all honesty I wouldn't plough vast amounts of money into the bike, get it running and clean it up but leave it standard (barring braided hoses).
It'll never be worth anything and spending £600 to give it things the NC30 already has, when you can just get an NC30, which hold their value quite well would be a better investment.
It's your call though! Just remember the NC24 was less popular than the NC30 so aftermarket bits and spares are all harder to come by...
