Fitting a cbr600rr dash to an Nc30
Right then, the next stage of my project bike is painfully close to being complete. I can't take the credit for this one, a mate of mine is in the process of fitting a cbr600rr dash to my bike, so far he has sorted all of the idiot lights, backlighting, speedo, tricked the unit into believing the tank is always full (so it doesn't flash annoyingly), basically everything but the rev counter. The signals sent from the cbr cdi and the nc30 cdi are completely different (he's been using an osciliscope - or something like that) something about a quasiwave? Anyway he is looking into other options, he thinks by using a coil the rev counter will only read half Rpm. Another option is to use the pulse generator to record the rpm before it reaches the coils. Is there any kind of module which may be useful? Or indeed any other suggestions, cheers Paul.

What year model dash?
Without knowing the year model and then wiring diagram my suggestion would to be to run a pickup wire straight from the low tension wire of one of the coils.
As a single coil runs 2 cylinders you will get 1 pulse per revolution, which is what most later tachos would be looking for.
regards

Re: Fitting a cbr600rr dash to an Nc30
i have been looking into fitting a tacho rev light
http://www.ecliptech.com.au/main_win_sep06.html
and remember reading in the vfr400 fitting manual found on this site that if the lights are not working properly when connected to the tacho and water temp sensor to run a wire to a coil pack :) so it may be ok depends and the programming weather it need 2 signals or 1 per rpm etc etc
wont you be able to look at the 600's wiring circuit to see where it picks up from?
cheers Tim

It's a 2005 Us spec unit (non HISS), unfortunately this conversion goes beyond the average servicing covered in the Haynes manuels which he has been using, thanks for the help so far - keep it coming! :D

Can you post a pic of the wiring diagram from the Haynes manual?
