Losing coolant & Other coolant related problems
Alrighty then well basically I'm losing coolant quite fast my coolant bottle almost emptys after about a week dependant on how much I ride it.
I've checked over the pipes and can't find a leak, apart from a small amount of water coming out of the water pump, so I have purchased another water pump but unfortunately didn't have the right socket set so couldn't fit it.
I'll update when I have the pump fitted.
Another thing is when I fill the coolant bottle up and start the bike I get quite a bit of water coming from the exhaust, like there is condensasion . But this happens every time I have to fill the coolant bottle up.
Now I thought head gasket but the engine oil isn't milky at all.
Any ideas?

Re: Losing coolant & Other coolant related problems
Is the coolant bottle not supposed to be filled to between the min and max lines rather than to the top ?
An overfilled coolant system will vent excess coolant as the coolant expands.

Re: Losing coolant & Other coolant related problems
You have answered your own question, "a small amount of water coming out of the water pump" will most likely empty your overflow bottle in a week.

Yeah I thought that was what the leak was.
I was justwondering why I get water coming from the exhaust when I fill it up

Re: Losing coolant & Other coolant related problems
Steam coming from the exhaust on a warm day is a sure indication of coolant burning, but condensation in the muffler is normal, especially if theres a slight air leak upstream. Only way to be sure about head gasket is to do a compression check, maybe take it to a mechanic, shouldnt be expensive to just check...
If coolant is leaking into a cylinder, which was the case on mine, it will be drawn into the system from the reservoir as the rad level drops, and your cylinder wall will start rusting... Also, if this is the case, worst case the cyl head may be slightly warped causing the gasket to fail, have that checked before just replacing the gasket

Uh oh.
The waterbottle is supposed to be filled to the Max mark.
Theres a drain hole at the bottom of the waterpump.. if it's leaking from there it's fucked (water has gotten past the bearing seal) and the pump will need replacing before it sizes.
