As you may or may not know I am building a track/race bike out of a rough NC30 I got cheap. I'm still in the process of collecting parts that I need and removing what I don't need or what I'm replacing.
As the bike will be solely for the track, do I need a fan? I'm in the process of removing the coolant hoses and was going to remove the bottom radiator when I thought about the fan. It's in a bad way, so got to thinking whether track bikes usually have them.
Fan removal?

Re: Fan removal?
Hi, I am doing the same as you with the race bike thing, and a couple of guys that race 30's and 35's say you dont really need to run a fan for short circuit racing. i dont have one on mine and it seems fine.

Re: Fan removal?
Take it off. The only time you need a fan is when your either stationary or in slow moving traffic. The rad will cool better without it as so long as the rad is clear air will pass through it better due to there being no obstruction for the airflow.
Too spensiff!!!

Thanks guys. I'll add it to the rather large junk pile I'm amassing!

Re: Fan removal?
100% agree with martin, i lost my fan when i mounted the oil cooler ( see post) and in slow traffic it doesn't cool the best but on the nopen road it's ace !
It's not having what you want but wanting what you've got....Loud ,Proud and Modified ....
