Re: CMSMJ1 - race bike build thread
Cheers man.. Am not sure when I can next get out. I really want to get out again on the 23rd May with EMRA to prove to myself that I have turned a corner and can actually go fast enough to win again...
The big but is that I am going to the IoM early June and that needs paying for! Also, going for a ride through Europe for 2 weeks in July so that scuppers the next rounds on the 4th July and 25th July...
So, the honest answer is I have no idea- fancy Oulton Park with Derby Phoenix as that wil count for another signature towards losing my novice vest
In the general scheme of things I suspect that I have already seent he high point of my racing career! I expect to keep my licence current and will do a few races as and when but the killer is money and time.
Saying that, I have Brands to do...Snett to do, Thruxton, Pembrey and probably others so I'm still going to catch you out on track sometime matey!

I want to race you too Spike miladdo...
Just fecking skinted...
EMRA roadstocks - you need rear brake light (to be dosconnected for the race), a horn, numberplate holder, std rearsets (or at least, nothing fancy pants and multi adjustable etc) and you need your V5. White numebrs on black background.
Simple as that.
I need 1 more track and 3 more races to get rid of my novice jacket..so will try and do that this year. have to sell some of my spares I reckon.

Re: CMSMJ1 - race bike build thread
Right on...ZOMBIE THREAD.
SO...a quick copy and paste from another thread
4th session was a total ballache. due to the shite zx6 man, there were rolling road blocks of dumb tossers that should learn to ride their wannabe racebikes. I was catching the train up and decided to slow right down, let them go away and I'll then get some free track. I dawdled for 2 laps...and upon picking my pace up it only took me half a lap to catch this slow and dangerous, frustrating pain in the nuts up. Just annoyed me (can you tell?)
Didn;t matter too much as I then just decided to fuck it and make some rude passes and my gear lever broke and I was stuck in 6th. Finished the session and was well pissed off and was thinking to go home.
I saw Reversecyl Jim and borrowed his spare rearsets which turned out to be a bad idea....fitted them and set the gear linkage up - noticing that the alloy plate of the rearsets was pretty thin and flexy....
went to get radical on the 5th session, struggling to get down the gears (using race shift) at the end of the Park straight and also into Mansfield. I could not then change up easily too - the lever was interfering with the linkage rod and seizing.
The run out of Barn was fast, in 3rd and I tried to get into 4th and it was no-go. the linkage was stuck and as I was revving along at 14.3k revs I gave the lever a tap to get it off the linkage rod...it shifted into 2nd.....
Buzzed the motor, clank and tinkle and whipped the clutch in asap - the engine seized and died making some horrible noises....oh bollocks says I...knowing full well I'd just booked some quality garage time for myself.
It would seem that I need to rebuild my bike and as I have some RVF heads and pistons spare and also a spanky black frame and CBR shock etc..I'll get it sorted out...updates to follow including the carnage in the top end of the motor!!!
Poor old bike, it served me well

Re: CMSMJ1 - race bike build thread
Well..bit of a shitty and grumpy me right now...as I am going to have to break the moto and sell all my bits as I need a deposit for my house.
So, this poor old moto, one of my best mates and something I am so very proud of...will be taken to bits and flogged.
All the pimp lovely bits will find their way to no9 but some of the fundamentals - Hiperform system, wheels, brakes, rvf carbs, forks, stuff and things...all going to find itself for sale.
I am really sad about it as I put a lot of my time, self and basic "me" into this build...as I am sure most of you already know.
So..give me a few weeks and I'll have it stripped to go..PM me for some dibs if you know what you want.
CMSMJ1 - ex racer, one time bike buikder.....I'll be back
