Carbs on, airbox on, fuel tank on,vacume and feed hoses on.
choke out,press the starter, fires first time.
left here running on choke while i made a brew, 5 minutes later she dies and won't restart, so back to square one.
I guess this means the plugs are defo knackered then, don't see what else it could be!??!

Thought i might have flooded her so tried the no choke full throttle for five seconds but after 3 seconds she fired, idled for about 5 more seconds this was followed by a very high pitched noise and the she cut out dead. I've been to scared to press the starter again as that noise wasn't to dissimilar to the one my mito made when it seized!

choke out,press the starter, fires first time.

Hi,
New plugs arrived Saturday and got round to fitting them yesterday. Fired her up and after 5 minutes idle on the choke she died and would not start. Totally confused i left it. This morning, after re-reading cammo's jetting guide, i realised that i hadn't set the pilot screws. i stripped the carb down again only to notice that some tool has removed the Pilot screws from the front left and rear left carbs and the two pilot screws in the right hand carbs were turned in all the way!!!
I guess this is what my problem is?
Can you get spare pilot screws ?

You could try keiths performance parts at bingham, they stock all sorts of carb parts. Loads of keihin parts.

russ, have you managed to buy any pilot jets? i have just bought a used set of carbs off ebay for some bits. i ma going to keep the rest as spares if you need some bits cheap give me a shout.

Yeah managed to get hold of some but i fear the carbs need balancing as she's had new plugs new pilot screws and she still won't idle, not really sure what else it could be.

see the next time it starts and stops after 5 mins running,open the filter cap to see if it sucks in air, it sounds like the tank isn't getting air as if the breather is blocked. just a thought.

Just put her all back togeter, 4 brand new sparks, the following happened
1st time it started with full choke no throttle left it running for 5 miniutes then tried to blance the throttle while reducing the choke, one the coke was off and i eased off the throttle she stalled
2nd time i tried to start her full choke no throttle.....nothing
3rd time full choke full trottle...bang fires first time. She will sit on full / 3/4 choke and idel forever now but once you try and reduce the choke further she dies. Screwed the piliot screws all the way in out two turns but still the same.
There is a sort of hight speed clicking. Unsure if it's the plug or the cams but it's defo coming from the right hand side of the bike(as you sit on it)
I'm guessing the poor engine must be starving as the jets are just not big enoughfor the zaust only think that points awy from this is the fact the the plugs come out black :-s
Also tried checking the breath hose thats fine and air is getting into the tank.
All very confusing.

Do you have springs, brass washers and rubber o-rings on your pilot screws ?

Yep managed to brrow a set of pilot screws with washers/orings as in your picture.
Also checked that the vacume hose was coneceted and not kinked.
Just been out for a 30 miniute ride and she's fine on the move. Still had to keep her on choke but she would sit and idel at 4k no problems, so were getting somewhere as she wouldn't even sit on choke for more than 5 miniutes before :S
Not sure what to try next :S

Sounds like you've covered most of the points I'd check.
When you had the carbs apart, did you check that the emulsion tubes weren't blocked? Since you can't get it to idle, maybe sync the carbs via the manual method (are the butterflys visually out of sync?).
