No m8 easy job, well if the fecking inspection cover wasent rounded but yea dosent take long, top rad out the way and tank off then u can crack on, havent fired up but turns over good by hand, spike had most of the bike apart and now i took gen clutch cover home with me to try remove the poxy inspection cover

if you want a hand doing Kev just let us know will take an hours time and a cup of tea :)

thanks to dave we got the backlash gears off the cams today so thats a bit less weight (400g infact) and more importantly less inertia in engine.

I've heard they sound like a bag'o' spanners with out them fitted but only when idling.

I really like the sound. Nowhere near as bad as a Duc with a dry clutch!

yeh its pritty easy cept the inspection cover, tried everthing to get that off but no luck so need a new clutch side cover engine case and inspection cover if anyone out their has one?

I saw all sorts about having to grind bolts off and shit but its really easy, just line cams up with marks, revome whole lot the its a circlip and u wiggle the gears off and theirs a few pins in the gear you have to make sure you take out.

Iv havent started it again yet as no engine cover but iv herd simmon ed's bike and other race v4's which have them removed and cant say theirs anything that noticible, just a rattle on tick over.

certainly not as bad as daves dry clutch rattly from his coke can exhaust system

Could you drill the flywheel Spike?

If you can mount it up and make sure your holes are perfectly opposed and the same you could take a few 2p sized holes out of it and that would lighten it up somewhat?

Also, you can unplug the genny when racing to stop the electro drag on the magnets.....that will help it spin up.

yeh you could drill the end in theory not the drum barrel surface as thats where the magnets are but as long as it dosnt effect the balance and make it too weak where it bolts on (could shear off) but tbh theirs no force ont hem cept inertia when crank changes speed and inpedance (magnetic drag) from the com which I cant imagine would be too bad.

Yeh id thought about that mark but tbh its a bit dodge for me, im sure someone's out their running it tho lol, you only need a sly switch between the started soloniod and the reg, have it running in paddock as soon as you go out pits hit the switch, race round switch it back on when you come it and possible check ur battery (check ours once at brands).

Only isue is ul have to keep the battery on charge between races and if another ss guy saw that they may get suspitious

Just save up and get a newer flywheel.. les chance of anything going wrong :D

I love mine.. it was cheap too!

Taking out the quietning gears is easy.. they sound more like a zxr than an nsr250sp (rattly) but should free the engine up a bit.

It was popular on the cbr250 as they have less bhp to start with :)

For the cost (very little apart from time) its worth doing to any race bike.

Fit a race battery instead of lightening the stock flywheel? you'll save more weight?

It might unleash half a hp or so, but personally I'd prefer the standard gear train noise on a roadbike.

On a racebike it helps when you really need to get all you've got... plus if you ever decide to sell your roadbike try explaining that the reason it sounds like it's been run without oil in it is due to the fact you've given it more power :D that should confuse the potential owener
