My NC30 fueling issue - low down cutting out

Just put the UK bike back to standard, and the carbs were sat for a while but clean and dry.
a quick check of each setting and refitted.
all is sort of well and it revs lovely and clean up top and starts easy enough but does keep trying to stall.
took it for a run out round the block to get it nice and warm, and it sure is strong up top and revs lovely and cleanly. but at a jcn it keeps trying to stall. if it does stall takes some coaxing back to life and was better with choke.

as these are UK carbs and the bikes standard settings are as follows
fronts 122, rears 120, UK needle jets, UK slides, airscrews at 2 turns.

any suggestions where to look first ? i wondered if one of the pilots were blocked but it runs on 4 ok, and choke is fine too.

On the flipside, fitted the RVF carbs to project exon valdez and hold christ does it fly with those on.

Don't UK bikes run 120's at the front and 122's at the rear?

Were the carbs empty when you left them standing? If the fuel evaporated from them it would have left a film of crap inside them.

Asssuming they are nice and clean inside and the idle is set high enough, I've no idea :grin:

You could check the plugs are looking OK incase it's over / under fueling or something.

Your more than welcome to pop over with it if you need some room to whizz the carbs off, I think I have a spare set of NC30 carbs hanging round here somewhere incase a diaphram is buggered or something.

Kris, no its the other way around on the UK for some reason.
Daz, cheers loads of room here now ta since the RR has gone.

BTW we off to the tap in a bit, fancy it ?

The NC might just need a good run to settle everything in.

daz, leaving around 6, quick half there and back before dark i think mate
i will be taking the RC30 ;) you might spot it, i dont think you will see another down there

Right, removed, all jets clean, floats equal, everything looks good, chokes operating freely, i cant see why this is happening

bike starts from cold with ease, happy on choke, once chokes off it does run but needs some revs, take it out and it runs perfectly until you come to a jcn where it will stall and struggle to start again.

would just one pilot jet cause this ? or is it more likely one float heights gone a bit west ?

whats you idle set at, i know if i try and get mine to sit at the reccomended 1300+- it's going to stall anywere it can.

1800 +- and it's fine.
It's not having what you want but wanting what you've got....Loud ,Proud and Modified ....

well i have to admit, the idle screws were still set at 2.25 turns out to suit the pipe. however i swopped the slides and jets and holders to jap spec so its now running 118 / 120 and 2 turns out and its loads better. once warm it felt almost normal at tickover, again pull the choke and it revs cleaner low down before bogging, infact best way to describe it is a bogging when snapping the throttle open sub 3k rpm
up top it runs just fine, infact dare i say ran better with 122 / 120 setup even using oe exhaust.

its now much more useable and with fresh petrol and a good run it might be good enough, if only i could get to the airscrews i would turm them in 1/4 of a turn again
