Re: rvf nc35 performance
what do you want? I've had 125's,400's,600's and 1000's and to be honest the most fun i had on a bike has been on smaller bikes especially on the road, just because you can ride them so much harder on the roads than bigger bikes. Over the twisty's my RS125 Aprilia was awesome fun cos you just didn't use the brakes, as for the RVF i have only used mine as a race bike but the handling and general buzz you get from the engine note is worth every penny.
If you do anything to the bike just get back end jacked up a bit, and if you wanna do anything to the engine just get the quietening gears removed and maybe the heads ported and polished, all depending on how much money you want to spend of course
Si :D

Re: rvf nc35 performance
i wouldnt touch the quietner gears for the road as you must raise the compression once you have done this to reduce the exxcess freeplay between the gear mesh. Porting these heads is of little gain in performance also only posible gains at the ports are modifications to the valve guides and some nife edging of the port divider but nothing in it to be honest and cut back valve guides will cause oil to burn, ok for race track not for road. Leave the lump alone is your best bet but if you want to do something to it remove the heads fit big plugs modify combustion shape and create a better burn path and de shroud the valves around the barrels etc. But gains will be marginal best option for road is a big bore kit you can get some serious power up without a great expense. The tourqe of the motor rises seriously also and the bikes become so much fun to ride. for road keep air box as is using a genuine h0nda filter i have seen many with foam elements put in and they arnt breathing as well as genuine but getit well set up and id advise a twin exhaust either twin stack or shotgun style as you can gain power by fueling the front and rear cylinders alternativly. Other mods to consider are ignitions and definatly a mess around on a dyno with varying length bellmouths. On my dyno a big bored road bike will make a genuine 70bhp (which is only 15ish less than a gsxr600 srad and a whole lot lighter) for top speed this isnt the bike really they are fun in other ways, you need a biger one end of. I have seen speed traps from isle of man on sulby straight and bikes i know making around 70bhp were doing just over 140mph which is pretty good for a 400. With stock gearing these bikes will just pull 130 real speed (speedo will be telling you alsorts at that speed).
to make pure road fun:
sticky tyres
race compound brake pads
big bore motor
and learn a section of road..............................
If anyone is interested i can do a all in service for any of the above tyres tuning oversize etc

ChrisXR
I love your writing..
If I was a woman I'd be swooning ha!
But I'm not..so i'm just gonna ask a quick question.
Can you help with a big bore for the NC30 engine? As the rings have gone in this engine this sounds like a good alternative!! (currently in a NC35 rolling chassis) and could you help also with sourcing a RVF loom/ignition & pick up? as I have an HRC CDi unit but no electrics to plug into.
last Dyno run with the current (sick with bad rings) had my RVF at 62bhp running full HRC jet kit and mods + the TYGA race can to increase the breathing.
can you help?
I've spent over 1000 pounds on getting bits from thr UK so far..so your advice is respected.

Re: rvf nc35 performance
pity your not female could of givern u a discount......................
any way no problem with any of that
email me at dynoproracing@gmail.com
i have the electrics and can arange for your block to be bored and pistons etc whatever.
You have ot watch who bores out the cylinders the givern clearences with the kit arnt the optimum and the borer may have to rebore the barrels offset as the original tolerences in bores vary and barrels can end up bursting into the alluminium if not done by someone who knows the motors.

Re: rvf nc35 performance
Chris if you recommend the big bore kit for a road bike would you also recommend it for a track bike? That's a track bike, not a race bike so it doesn't need to comply with any regulations.
If you don't what main effective modifications do you suggest for a track bike?
I noticed you are not a fan of foam filters. I have one - Pipercross. Should I put back the Honda filter?

Re: rvf nc35 performance
oversize kits are a cost effective way of power for track bike it would make your average 400 just come alive one of the biggest reasons as said is the new tourque the bikes make making it able to pull much taller gearing. With regards to filters you need to see it on a af meter filters i have been seeing are needing to use smaller jets over ones using stock genuine filters to acheive a 12.5 to 13% afr reading the reason for this is that something is reducing air flow so going leaner with the fueling is required to bring the ratio correct again.

Re: rvf nc35 performance
Thanks. I'll put my standard Honda filter back in and see what happens to the jetting.
