Fitting SP1 brake set up to an nc30

Post by ibby4585 »

Ive fitted by SP1 calipers and an SP1 master cylinder to my NC30. What resevoir pots and brackets are people using? im trying to use the original NC resevoir and bracket but it catches on the screen stay. I know i can make one but just wondered if there is one that fits well and looks good.

I'm using a blade m/c and it fits just about bob on. I have a RickO alloy brace if that makes any difference.

The pot only just clears it but no worries..

Cheers, ive got SES brace and i reckon its slightly smaller than original. The NC pot and bracket catches the screen and isnt straight. So i need to think about another solution.

Is it possible to just run these calipers with the standard m/c? Thinking of doing the same conversion but I'm on a tight budget!

Also what calipers are compatible with the SES brackets as there aren't too many CBR600RR/SP1 Nissin calipers come up on ebay for sensible money and I was wondering if VTR1000 Firestorm Nissins fit and what year Fireblade Nissin calipers go on as I've found a pair that look similar to the SP1 pair, only silver not gold.

i know you cant use the standard master cylinder as the brakes will be really spongy. as for the brackets im sure you can only use nissin cbr600rr and sp1.sp2 calipers.

How much did the conversion set you back ibby?

I wish i had gone down the SP1 caliper route, ive recently bought 4 pad brembos which i didnt look into before buying. pads are £95 quid a set and only come sintered

matt_nc30 - Ouch! I'm sorry for your misfortune but also thanks as now I can definitely rule out going for the Brembos!

The normal 2 pad brembos are fine, which is what most people use. I think.

But i have to be a twat as usual and buy somthing different, on a plus side tho, they are supposed to be pretty awsome brakes, maybe overkill for an NC30 lol.

I suppose all in , including brand new EBC pads and goodridge braided hoses they have cost me £200.

thats
calipers
master cylinder
resevoir pot and bracket
new pads
and hoses.

not set them up yet or bled them but they are meant to be excellent.

ebay is the way to go for bits - you just have to be lucky.

also, think about how people would list the parts, you might be able to get some bits badly listed & get them even cheaper!

i got the complete fireblade / sp1 set up for £180.00 all in.
