A little more BHP
Hi i'd like to know how much more BHP to expect from a standard nc30 with a full exhaust system,HRC carb setup with standard filter and HRC ignition module ,i've seen these on ebay are they all the same or is there anything to check or tell if they're not the real thing?
I had my first trackday on sunday at kirkistown and had a great time,i'd just like a bit more power to keep up better with the bigger bikes although the wee bike was going really well.I know people say sort the handling out first but for me it handled really well so i'll do some suspention upgrades later.
Any advice would be great.

None of them are real hrc on ebay! Bad reports of blown motors from some people on here. Ignitech programmable ignitions are the way forward, not that Chinese crap.steve92 wrote:HRC ignition module ,i've seen these on ebay are they all the same or is there anything to check or tell if they're not the real thing?
As for speed, what gearing are you running? Gearing down from standard gives a healthy boost in acceleration for not much cost. After that I'd fit a decent half or full system, jet the carbs to suit and it will rock.

A proper full HRC setup might be a pain to run on the road, if you use the bike daily id go with what dataracer says. Its pretty easy to make the best of what you have and get a few more bhp with some carb mods and a full or half system setup right, will also be a lot more usable on the road.
If ridablilty doesnt bother you then go for it, either HRC or a ram setup will get you the power you want. And remember these setups do not use a air filter so engine life is going to suffer.

Now that Data has pointed out i think i can gain alot from gearing cos the bike i got has been a very rush job to get it running good messing about with the carbs its good now (thanks again data)
Iam just looking for cheaper options to get a little more for the track.
Iam going for the full system to start with. Then suck it and see as they say.

Re: A little more BHP
hi all been a while since iv been on here, i run the full hrc set up on the road and dont find it to be any bother, other than it took me countless eavnings and weekends of carbs on, off changing jets, needles ect to get a good set up, i would say start with changing the gearing as sudgested, but there are plenty of other things you can do with out going the "full" hrc set up route, just fitting the under carb tray and opening up the intake a bit will give you a bit more (re jet to suit obviously), full system will hike it up a bit, fit nc35 exhaust cams, and plenty of dyno time getting the most out of what youve got is where your money would be best spent, just do your homework and get a dyno opperator who knows his stuff, iv got a 92 uk model nc30 with nc35 carbs with the full genuine hrc carb setting kit (bought from japan) running the "b" needles on the top/longest setting, 142f/145r mj, hrc slide springs, vell stacks, hrc under carb tray and air box with modifyed standard filter fitted with free'er flowing foam, a k&n crank case breather, hrc sp in line ignition box, and nc35 cams which have a longer duration on the exhaust cam, plus i run 15/42 final drive sprockets, i have found this set up to be the best compramise with the least flat spots, the last time i had it dynoed it was making 67.4bhp at the wheel but all dynoes varey, have a read through the workshop section, rick olivers advice is sound, he is a man worth listening to when it comes to honda v4s, hope this has been of some help and good luck in the never ending search for power.
