NC30, bit of a weird one
Nice day so I'm on my way to work, sun is shining. Bike coughs and I realise rev counter isn't working. Then I realise that indicators or my neutral light aren't working either.
Bike revs but not cleanly and coughs, not sure at what rpm as my rev counter isn't working remember.
I'd guess at 5500rpm which would be consistent with an issue with the ignition thinking that there has been a degree of tampering. That wouldn't account for the lack of electrics though.
So I'm puzzled, until I get home and have a tinker. Fuses all ok and nothing obvious hanging off.
Any ideas?

I'd still guess fuses?
knackered plug? < as from the clocks to the loom? might be loose?

First thing to check is going to be any loose connections at back of clocks.

sounds like the clocks have lost power. Speedo still sweeps as it is mechanical but the restrictor kicking in as no signals from it.

Speedo is fine as it drives straight off front sprocket, got to be a connector loose or covered in crud somewhere behind clocks.
It'll get me home, it got me to work and I'll have a look in the morning.

Bit of an update.
Replaced 15 amp fuse and everything was fine until I touched the brakes, dash lights went off so fuse has obviously gone again. Any idea why fuse would blow?

Exhaust has brunt through the rear brake light wire causing the fuse to blow hence it wont rev above 5.5k

^ Yup could be.
If it was the front brake lever that caused the short check the wiring condition of the front brake lever switch.

Excellent diagnosis, is that based on a previous experience?Drunkn Munky wrote:Exhaust has brunt through the rear brake light wire causing the fuse to blow hence it wont rev above 5.5k
